About Us

History of SCMST

While the country was moving towards development in line with globalization, our health system was doing important work like diagnosis by unskilled, semi-educated manpower. Saic College of Medical Science and Technology (SCMST) managed by Saic Group started in 2005 with the goal of producing skilled and quality diagnostic medical technologists and serving the suffering people as an important part of the medical system of Bangladesh. In the course of time, that institution has been completed today. Digital campus with its own 10-storey building and all modern and international standard facilities which is currently an example in our country. In the past few years it has become one of the best medical institutes among private and government institutes. B.Sc in Physiotherapy, B.Sc in Lab Medicine, B.Sc in Occupational Therapy, B.Sc in Radiology and Imaging courses have been introduced in SCMST to produce skilled and qualified technologists. Theory Class as well as Practical Class and Clinical Training are arranged in every department to develop the students properly. Skilled technologists, experienced MBBS doctors, nurses, BDS and physiotherapists have been appointed along with all necessary laboratory setups for proper conduct of the lab classes. After the completion of the course, every student is given maximum support in getting a job through the Job Placement Cell with the provision of field training in government hospitals. Besides, there is an opportunity to learn hands-on work in the external department and own digital diagnostic lab of the college. Our students will ensure better health services by providing services to the vast population of Bangladesh through the application of this learned knowledge in the workplace later in life.

In the socio-economic context of Bangladesh, there is no alternative to create health support manpower to deliver health services at the grass root level. One of the most important needs of the people in the state is health care. Ensuring health care is very important if the country is to be freed from poverty. That is why the government has formulated the National Health Policy which aims to establish medical treatment as a right for people from all walks of life in the light of the constitution and international instruments. The government has launched a large number of community clinics, union health family welfare centers and upazila health complexes at the upazila and union level in addition to hospitals to deliver health services to the people, but due to the lack of sufficient quality manpower in them, the government is not able to meet its desired goals. For this reason, in order to improve the health sector, there is a need for further expansion of health allied courses along with doctors. Through which a group of quality health support workers will be created in health services. Since its establishment in 2005, Psych College of Medical Science and Technology (SCMST) has been working tirelessly to fulfill that goal. We have our own 10 storied building and digital campus with all modern and international standards. In addition to theory and practical classes, students are kept up-to-date about health services through various meetings, seminars, symposiums. These are the reasons why SCMST has become one of the best medical colleges in the last few years.

Health care is a recognized human right and is universally recognized as an important indicator of human resource development. Among the 17 goals and 169 targets of Bangladesh’s Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs, health services, the third most important issue, have been given the highest priority with a deadline of 2030. In order to deliver this health service to the people, health support workers are needed in addition to doctors. Such as nurses, technologists in various fields and physician assistants. Their need to ensure quality health care is undeniable. Sensing this need, Syk College of Medical Science and Technology (SCMST) first started Health Allied Courses in 2005. Over time, students who have passed out from SIMT are now working in reputed hospitals, diagnostic and clinics of Bangladesh. Currently, SIMT has set up international quality labs in its campus to ensure quality teaching of these courses. There is a large teaching panel including full time MBBS teachers. Apart from practical classes, Saic students are also given internship directly in government hospitals. Apart from strengthening the students academically, 100% employment is ensured through its own ‘Job Placement Cell’. It is for these reasons that Psych College of Medical Science and Technology has unique characteristics from any other traditional institution.
