While the country was moving towards development in line with globalization, our health system was doing important work like diagnosis by unskilled, semi-educated manpower. Saic College of Medical Science and Technology (SCMST) managed by Saic Group started in 2005 with the goal of producing skilled and quality diagnostic medical technologists and serving the suffering people as an important part of the medical system of Bangladesh.

The requirement for admission in physiotherapy:Candidates passing SSC and HSC or equivalent examination from science group with biology will be considered eligible for admission into B.Sc. in physiotherapy course. The candidate who have passed SSC and HSC in the current year and only two years back having GPA 7.00 and at least GPA 3.00 both in SSC and HSC is a must.
Lab facilities:Saic Collage of Medical Science & Technology (SCMST) is well equipped with modern instruments & apparatus belonging Anatomy, Physiology, Physiotherapy Outdoor, Physiotherapy Gymnasium through which a student can develop all kinds of their practical knowledge.

Program Description

B.Sc in health Technology (Lab) is a four years course under the University of Dhaka. After completing this course, a student has an opportunity to work as a medical technologist, Scientific officer even lab-in-charge in different private hospitals.

Program Description

Radiology is a medical specialty that uses medical imaging to diagnose and treat diseases within the human body. A variety of imaging techniques such as X-ray radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are used to diagnose or treat diseases. Interventional radiology is the performance of usually minimally invasive medical procedures with the guidance of imaging technologies such as X-ray radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Facilities are:To develop highly skilled manpower in radiological technology with proper medical science background so that they can understand the purpose and theoretical basis of radi logical procedures, perform routine and specialized radiological examination by using modern equipment, operate and maintain radiological equipment and follow trends and approaches in radiological research. To develop the standard of education and ensure the quality of radiology and imaging technology education and also radiological practices. To help meet the requirements of a large number of radiological technology experts in the government, non-government hospitals and diagnostic centers in-country and all over the world. To control radiation hazard and ensure radiation safety by using proper knowledge for the patient, technologist and environment.

Program Description

Occupational therapy is a client-centered health profession concerned with promoting health and well-being through occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational therapists achieve this outcome by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement (WFOT, 2012).
Courses are taught using a variety of teaching methods and practical sessions, including formal lectures, practical skills sessions, a group working, problem-solving approaches and on-line technology with a strong emphasis on inter-professional learning. Occupational therapy degree course combines academic study with integrated placements, which can take place across a range of health and social care settings. Work areas traditionally include physical rehabilitation, mental health, learning disabilities, social services, community-based rehabilitation, research and education. On these placements, students will get to work with people of all ages, in an increasing range of health, social care, community-based rehabilitation, research and private care settings. Students will be taught how to accurately assess the physical, mental and social needs of individuals, and to put in place bespoke treatment plans to help them achieve their personal goals. Time is split between theory and fieldwork practice, and all modules of study contain aspects of theory and professional practice, to support the development of critical inquiry skills. The final degree award is achieved based on continuous assessment of course-based work, and fieldwork practice assessments, research and examinations.

Options for postgraduate study for those interested in other, or related, careers include MSc in Rehabilitation Science, Clinical social work, Occupational Health & Safety, Public health, Health Economics & Development and Teaching. Practicing occupational therapists must engage in continuing professional development (CPD). Skills are updated via informal and formal learning such as courses, workshops, supervision and reflective practice.
